Full Implementation of Free Rural Bus Services Starting March 17
Uljin-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, will implement a policy to provide free rural bus services to residents and tourists starting March 17.
This policy was introduced to enhance transportation convenience for users, promote the use of public transportation, and stimulate the local economy and tourism industry.
With the opening of the railway on January 1 and the implementation of free rural bus services, it is expected to significantly contribute to the improvement of resident-centered welfare and the revitalization of tourism.
In particular, this project was carried out through close cooperation between Uljin-gun and the Uljin-gun Council. The county collected residents’ opinions, conducted research and analysis to examine the economic and social ripple effects of free bus operations, consulted with bus operators, secured the necessary budget, and thoroughly reviewed the bus operation system to ensure the smooth implementation of the project.
Additionally, the Uljin-gun Council prioritized resident welfare and held in-depth discussions on the “Uljin-gun Rural Bus Free Operation Support Ordinance,” passing the ordinance in March 2025, thereby confirming the implementation of the policy.
Uljin-gun plans to continuously monitor the effects of the free bus operation and reflect residents’ feedback to improve the service.
County Governor Son Byungbok stated, “This free rural bus policy goes beyond simple transportation support; it is an important policy that can enhance the quality of life for residents and contribute to the revitalization of the local economy and tourism. I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Uljin-gun Council and all those involved for their efforts in ensuring the successful establishment of this project. I encourage everyone to make full use of the free buses, and we will actively gather valuable feedback from residents to create even better transportation services. We will continue to pursue resident-centered transportation policies to make Uljin-gun a more convenient and livable place,” he said.
