Lee Wanseop, the mayor of Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, visited the National Assembly on the 13th with the goal of realizing a "Leap Forward Seosan, Livable Seosan," actively engaging in on-site administration to resolve major local issues.

According to the city, Mayor Lee met with Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Joo Ho-young and Chairman of the National Defense Committee Sung Il-jong to propose various projects aimed at driving the local economy and improving cultural opportunities for the region.

First, Mayor Lee met with Deputy Speaker Joo Ho-young and requested that the Daesan coastal area be designated as a new national industrial complex specializing in advanced petrochemical materials.

He emphasized the urgent need for practical measures due to the stagnation of the petrochemical industry and strongly advocated for the designation of a new national industrial complex to facilitate the industry's transformation and resurgence.

The Daesan Petrochemical Complex is one of Korea's three major petrochemical complexes, playing a pivotal role in the industry and serving as a key industrial hub that drives not only the local but also the national economy.

When meeting with Chairman of the National Defense Committee Sung Il-jong, Mayor Lee explained projects such as the Chungcheong Inland Railway, Naepo-Taean Railway, Daesan Port Connecting Railway, and the Central Region East-West Cross-Country Railway, and requested their inclusion in the 5th National Railway Network Construction Plan.

He requested the allocation of national funds for the construction of the Haemi International Holy Site Cultural Exchange Center, a key project for making the Haemi International Holy Site a world-renowned landmark, and provided explanations to secure momentum for the project.
