A fire broke out on a hill in Sacheon, Gyeongnam, turning 0.3 hectares of forest into ashes.
According to the Gyeongnam Fire Department, a report was received from a nearby resident at 12:36 p.m. on the 13th, stating that a fire had started on a hill in Silan-dong, Sacheon.
Fire authorities mobilized 22 pieces of equipment, including 7 helicopters, 7 fire trucks, and 6 wildfire suppression vehicles, as well as 36 firefighters and 20 wildfire suppression team members, totaling 69 personnel. The main fire was brought under control by 2:30 p.m. that day.
There were no casualties, but one village greenhouse, a cultivator, and miscellaneous trees were destroyed, resulting in property damage estimated at about 1.2 million won by the fire department. Approximately 0.3 hectares of forest burned.
The fire department and the Korea Forest Service are monitoring for remaining embers and investigating the exact cause of the fire.
