Shim Jong-hyuk Inaugurated as Sogang University President: "Will Create a Virtuous Cycle Between University and Industry"

Reappointed as the 17th President

Shim Jong-hyuk, President of Sogang University, stated, "We will innovate industry-academia cooperation and startup support to create a virtuous cycle where universities and industries grow together."

At the inauguration ceremony on the 13th, President Shim said, "We will lay the foundation for Sogang's next 100 years through the construction of the Student Creative Research Center and the successful operation of the Sogang-Pangyo Digital Innovation Campus."

President Shim also stated, "Going forward, Sogang will advance beyond excellence to become a university leading the development of the global human community," and added, "We will expand research support to enable Sogang University to leap into a world-class research-focused university, and establish the Sogang Signature Education System to strengthen financial stability and sustainability."

Born in 1955, President Shim entered Sogang University’s Department of Mathematics in 1974 and completed a master's degree in physics at the same university’s graduate school. After being appointed as the 16th president in 2020, he was reappointed as the 17th president at the board meeting held last December. His term is four years.
