Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon visited a climate tech company with excellent fine dust reduction technology on the 14th and announced plans to foster climate tech companies for a fine dust-free Gyeonggi Province.
On the same day, Governor Kim visited Wooyang ENG Co., Ltd. in Hwaseong City, which received support as a promising climate tech project in Gyeonggi Province for its outstanding technology in the field of fine dust reduction, to check the status of technology development and application cases.
Wooyang ENG Co., Ltd. is a company specializing in the design, manufacture, and construction of air pollution prevention facilities such as factory fine dust removal dust collectors. It was selected as a promising climate tech company from 2021 to 2023 and as an excellent environmental service company in 2024.
At the site, Governor Kim said, "Gyeonggi Province has proactively responded to climate issues by declaring RE100, and we believe climate tech is the future food source and opportunity. The fact that Wooyang is doing so well means awareness of the climate crisis is increasing and it helps the development of the climate tech industry, which is truly welcome news." He added, "I am worried because the central government seems to be going backward in responding to the climate crisis, but Gyeonggi Province is very interested in climate tech and is trying to support it."
Gyeonggi Province is making various strengthened emission reduction efforts through the implementation of the ‘6th Fine Dust Seasonal Management Plan’ and the full-scale fine dust reduction response in March. Through 10 major tasks in three areas, including regular maintenance and adjustment of incineration volume at public institution-operated incineration facilities, focused indoor air quality management in multi-use facilities, and enhanced monitoring of industrial complexes using advanced monitoring equipment such as scanning lidar, various projects are being promoted for the health of climate-vulnerable groups.

In addition, various efforts are being made to support climate tech companies that possess technologies for fine dust reduction and climate change response.
Meanwhile, on the 26th of last month, Governor Kim Dong-yeon declared the climate economy vision at the Yeoju Satellite Center and announced three major strategies for a climate economy transformation, including ▲at least 400 trillion won investment in the climate industry ▲complete abolition of coal power plants ▲establishment of a climate economy department.
This year, Gyeonggi Province aims for a sustainable ‘climate economy’ transition by implementing the nation’s first climate insurance, actively promoting the climate satellite development and launch project, and the climate fund, among other initiatives, as part of the ‘Climate Gyeonggi 3 Major Projects.’
