The special lecture was attended by about 70 people, including Kim Kyung-don, Director of the Namyangju Cultural Center, Jin Ik-joo, President of the Cultural Academy Alumni Association, executives of the Cultural Center, and students of the 3rd term.
In his lecture titled "Namyangju City's Future Vision and Implementation Strategy for 2025," Mayor Joo declared this year as the "first year of a major transformation of Namyangju's industrial ecosystem," and revealed his plan to transform Namyangju City from an industrial structure centered on traditional retail and simple manufacturing industries into a city focused on eco-friendly, high-efficiency, and high value-added advanced industries.
Furthermore, Mayor Joo emphasized that he will integrate the Dasan Jeong Yak-yong brand throughout the city, promote the construction of regional performance halls so that citizens can enjoy culture in their daily lives, open royal houses to be used as complex cultural and artistic spaces, and launch the Namyangju Cultural Foundation in the second half of the year to actively promote cultural and artistic projects.
Mayor Joo stated, "Culture is an important factor that determines the dignity of a city," and urged, "I hope the members of the Cultural Academy will take the lead as leaders of the local community in developing Namyangju City into a city where anyone wants to live and a cultured city with dignity."
The Cultural Academy's advanced course operated by the Namyangju Cultural Center was established in 2023 to enhance understanding of local culture and provide civic education, consisting of lectures on humanities, cultural arts, leadership, special lectures by invited celebrities, and cultural heritage explorations.
