Icheon City Sets Goal to Secure 100 Billion KRW in National and Provincial Funding This Year
Mayor Kim Kyunghee Emphasizes Strategic Response and Staff Training for Public Project Competitions
Gyeonggi-do Icheon City has set a goal to secure 100 billion KRW in national and provincial funding this year.
On the 12th, Icheon City held the '2025 National and Provincial Funding Public Project Discovery Report Meeting' chaired by Mayor Kim Kyung-hee, setting this goal and discussing strategic response measures, the city announced on the 13th.

Earlier, to strengthen the capacity to respond to national and provincial public project competitions, the city conducted training for project managers in December last year and produced and distributed a related guidebook. In particular, from December last year to January this year, the city promoted consulting for public projects, enhancing staff capabilities through case-based project proposal writing training and scenario writing for key project proposals.
Last month, the city secured data on Gyeonggi-do public projects in advance and increased information accessibility through cooperation with Song Seok-jun, a member of the National Assembly from the People Power Party representing the local district.
So far this year, the city has discovered 69 public projects and is pursuing applications for 60 of them. To date, 12 projects have been selected, amounting to 3 billion KRW.
Last year, the city was selected for a total of 72 public projects, securing 86.8 billion KRW in national and provincial funding. The major secured budgets include ▲tap water supply (48.6 billion KRW) ▲education and sports (21.4 billion KRW) ▲residential environment improvement (5.4 billion KRW) ▲transport infrastructure (4.64 billion KRW) ▲agricultural innovation (2.7 billion KRW) ▲health and welfare (2.7 billion KRW) ▲local economy (600 million KRW) ▲culture and tourism (420 million KRW), among others.
Mayor Kim said, "The city’s own projects should also seek ways to reduce budgets through active securing of national and provincial funding," and urged, "Please prepare thoroughly to achieve better results than last year."
