Kakao to Spin Off 'Daum'... Two Years After Separation into an Independent Internal Company

Kakao will spin off the portal 'Daum' in-house independent company (CIC) into a separate corporation.

According to the IT industry on the 13th, Kakao shared this spin-off plan with employees at a town hall meeting held on the same day.

Kakao, which merged with Daum in 2014, separated Daum into a CIC in 2023.

A Kakao official stated, "We are preparing for the spin-off to revitalize the content CIC, so communication with employees is one step, and it must be confirmed by the board of directors," adding, "We plan to secure independence as a fully separate corporation, create an environment for various experiments, and establish a fast and independent decision-making structure to strengthen service competitiveness."
