Full-scale Launch of K-Drone Delivery Service Centered on Yeongjuho and Seocheon
Yeongju City, Gyeongbuk Province (Mayor Park Namseo) signed a joint cooperation agreement for the "Drone Demonstration City Development Project" with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport at the Best Western Hotel in Sejong on the 11th, and subsequently held a project kick-off briefing at the Korea Aerospace Technology Institute in Incheon on the 13th.

The "Drone Demonstration City Development Project" is an initiative by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to discover and support drone utilization models (delivery, leisure, administration) tailored to regional characteristics. Out of 47 local governments nationwide that applied, 26, including Yeongju City, were selected.
The agreement ceremony was attended by officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Aviation Policy Division, the Korea Institute of Aviation Safety Technology, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, Yeongju City, and representatives from 17 newly selected local governments. They signed a joint cooperation agreement for this year's drone demonstration city development and discussed project implementation directions and mutual cooperation measures.
Yeongju City proposed a drone delivery model that includes park and administrative goods delivery, reflecting local characteristics, and was selected for the K-Drone Delivery Commercialization Project, securing 490 million KRW in national funding. In collaboration with traditional markets and local marts, the city plans to deliver food, daily necessities, and specialty products by drone to areas vulnerable to delivery, such as Seocheon and Yeongjuho, where many citizens gather.
Starting with this kick-off briefing, the city will select delivery bases and drop-off points, establish a drone safety management system and control room, conduct flight tests, and carry out the drone delivery demonstration project through November.
Hong Seongho, Director of the Local Era Policy Office, stated, "We will do our utmost to successfully implement this year's Drone Demonstration City Development Project so that Yeongju City can establish itself as a leading city in the drone industry."
