It was announced that a demonstration of the 'Meta HyFlex' class using XR was held.

Soonchunhyang University announced on the 14th that it held a demonstration of the 'META-HyFlex' class using XR at the Shinyang Hall Learning Pyramid. The demonstration, held on the 24th of last month, was attended by President Lee Yoon-jae, Vice President Jang Kyung-nam, and others.

META-HyFlex is an XR-based immersive class model developed by Soonchunhyang University, designed to provide learners with a vivid educational environment. Using the Ministry of Education's University Innovation Support Project budget, Soonchunhyang University introduced the XR device Meta Quest 3 last year and established 'META-CLASS,' a next-generation educational platform that combines performing arts and XR technology. This aims to offer students experiential education similar to reality and enhance their understanding of classes.

The META-HyFlex classes have been piloted since the second semester of last year in the required liberal arts course 'Human Civilization and Christianity.' This course recreates events from the Bible as if they were real, establishing a new education model based on experience and interaction.

It is being recognized that XR-based classes, which were mainly conducted in science and engineering experiments and practice, can also be effectively utilized in the humanities field. Among students participating in the class, comments such as "Through XR, I could have a vivid experience as if I entered actual history, which improved my understanding of the Bible that I had only read in text" have been made.

Meanwhile, the Center for Teaching and Learning Innovation at Soonchunhyang University's Institute for University Education Innovation has set 'META Education Innovation,' which signifies future values in character, field, convergence, and artificial intelligence (AI), as its educational innovation strategy. The center plans to present an education paradigm optimized for the digital age through experience-centered education and create an educational environment for nurturing creative talents.
