At the meeting, employment support officers from the Goyang branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, Gyeonggi Video Science High School, Goyang High School, Shinil Business High School, Ilsan High School, and Ilsan Convention High School attended to discuss detailed plans for the 2025 Specialized High School Employment Support Project.
The city plans to accelerate the establishment of a virtuous cycle system where youth can learn and find employment in Goyang, in cooperation with the Goyang Integrated Job Center, to provide a foundation that guarantees a stable future for young people in Goyang.
The Specialized High School Employment Support Project consists of ▲ Career Counseling Days visiting schools to strengthen students’ employment capabilities and raise employment awareness ▲ On-site training and company discovery that can be linked to recruitment ▲ Goyang City Job Tour to enhance companies’ understanding of job roles ▲ Specialized High School Job Fair ▲ Job mentoring, among others. Institutions such as the Goyang Employment Center will also conduct special lectures on youth support policies.
In particular, this year’s Career Counseling Days will start with Gyeonggi Video Science High School, a specialized high school, and target Goyang High School, Shinil Business High School, Ilsan High School, and Ilsan International Convention High School, running 142 sessions in total, five times a week from April to November.
Additionally, the city plans to actively support students by connecting them directly with excellent local companies and institutions that are essential for specialized high school students, so that they can achieve employment before graduation.
Meanwhile, last year, the city operated Career Counseling Days 44 times, benefiting five specialized high schools and 1,410 students. Furthermore, based on mutual understanding of the necessity and practice of industry-academia cooperation, Goyang Special City joined hands with 14 institutions including the Goyang branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor and excellent companies.
Wang Yeon-woo, Director of the Job Policy Division, stated, “We will strengthen support by operating capacity-building education programs to enhance specialized high school students’ positive mindset toward employment,” adding, “We will help match the talents needed by companies so that students in Goyang can find jobs at local companies.”
