Building Governance through Discovery of New Operating Institutions
Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Han Sangwon) announced on the 12th that it has been selected as the preferred negotiator for the Honam region in the Ministry of Employment and Labor's public contest for the 'Regional Support Center for the Miraenaeil Work Experience Project.'
The Miraenaeil Work Experience Project aims to provide young people with various high-quality work experiences they need, supporting job exploration and competency development to facilitate their smooth entry into the labor market. Six institutions, including Gwangju Chamber, were selected across six regions nationwide.
As the preferred negotiator for the Honam region, Gwangju Chamber has secured a budget of 210 million KRW from the Ministry of Employment and Labor and will operate the Miraenaeil Work Experience Honam Regional Support Center for the second consecutive year.
The Miraenaeil Work Experience Honam Regional Support Center is an organization that supports the expansion of work experience opportunities in Gwangju, Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, and Jeju.
Through activities such as promoting the work experience project, discovering and providing consulting for operating institutions and participating companies, recruiting unemployed youth aged 15 to 34, and building and operating networks, the center will provide local unemployed youth with opportunities to gain practical job skills through work experience at local businesses and encourage them to settle in the region.
Last year, Gwangju Chamber implemented this project for the first time, discovering 104 participating companies, providing 100 consulting sessions for participating companies, discovering 17 operating institutions, providing 74 consulting sessions for operating institutions, holding 6 project briefings, 4 network meetings, 10 regular meetings for operating institutions, and organizing work experience contests and achievement promotion events.
In particular, by establishing a network through work experience agreements with 20 major universities in the Honam region, a foundation was laid for local youth job creation, and a bridgehead was established for the active promotion of this year's project.
This year, the plan is to discover 7 new operating institutions, 70 companies, hold joint job briefings, and establish work experience governance, among other initiatives.
Chae Hwaseok, Executive Vice Chairman of Gwangju Chamber, stated, "Last year, the net outflow of young people in the Honam region was about 24,000, indicating a very serious level of youth population outflow," and added, "We will establish a close cooperation system with the Ministry of Employment and Labor to prevent the outflow of excellent unemployed talent through private sector-led work experience activation, and strive to create new jobs and strengthen regional competitiveness."
