Over 70% of Sales Still Made Offline
Despite High Brand Recognition, Most Sungju Chamoe Sold Through Traditional Channels
Sungju County (Governor Lee Byunghwan) signed a 'Business Agreement for Activating Online Distribution of Sungju Chamoe' with Coupang, the nation's largest online shopping mall (represented by Kang Hansung and Park Daejoon), on the 12th.
The event was attended by National Assembly member Jung Heeyong of the People Power Party, Doh Heejae, Chair of the Sungju County Council, local heads of Nonghyup, Lee Sunghan, Head of Rocket Fresh, and Jung Haeun, Head of the Agricultural Products Group.

With this business agreement, both parties plan to expand the sales channels of Sungju Chamoe nationwide, actively promote the product, and work together to boost sales.
Although Sungju Chamoe accounts for about 80% of the national production and has over 95% brand recognition, which are advantageous for marketing, more than 70% of sales are still made offline through local and external wholesale markets.
However, the MOU signed with Coupang, the largest online shopping mall in Korea, aims to increase online sales by promoting the high-quality Sungju Chamoe to customers nationwide, thereby contributing to a tangible increase in income for local farmers.
Lee Byunghwan, Governor of Sungju County, said, "This year, due to weather conditions similar to previous years and early cultivation, as of the end of February, production has reached a record high, and prices are also favorable compared to the output, so we are off to a smooth start." He added, "I hope this agreement with Coupang will lead to expanded sales channels and increased revenue for Sungju Chamoe."
