After the Democratic Party, which had been divided following Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, referring to the 'Bimyeong (anti-Lee Jae-myung faction) and collusion within the prosecution,' the party has united into a single front following President Yoon Seok-yeol's cancellation of detention.
Former lawmaker Park Yong-jin (from left), former Gyeongnam Governor Kim Kyung-soo, Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum, former National Assembly Secretary-General Lee Kwang-jae, and former Blue House Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok are holding a political discussion meeting near Gwanghwamun, Seoul, on the 12th, urging the dismissal of President Yoon Suk-yeol. On the afternoon of the 12th, Lee met with Bimyeong faction figures including former Gyeongnam Governor Kim Kyung-soo, former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum, former lawmaker Park Yong-jin, former National Assembly Secretary-General Lee Kwang-jae, and former Blue House Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok near Gwanghwamun, Seoul, for a political situation meeting.
At the meeting, Lee pointed out, "If President Yoon returns to office as the People Power Party expects, it would mean that, in the name of the Constitutional Court, the president can officially declare martial law at any time without reason for the purpose of enlightening the people."
He directly criticized President Yoon, saying, "Politics is about ensuring the safety of the community and enabling our people to live better lives within that. However, it is unbelievable that someone would dream of exercising permanent power with power temporarily entrusted by the people and point a gun at the people."
Regarding the People Power Party, he sharply stated, "Looking at the serious crimes that destroy the fundamental constitutional order of the Republic of Korea, including rebellion and military insurrection crimes from which even the president is not exempt from prosecution privileges, is it at all understandable that they feel no responsibility for such acts and instead protect them?"
Former Governor Kim said, "This rebellion must end with the impeachment of President Yoon," emphasizing, "The People Power Party has joined the rebel forces in pressuring the Constitutional Court, and the level of pressure has gone too far. We must protect the Constitutional Court from the rebel forces."
Former lawmaker Park expressed, "Seeing the suspect of rebellion charges march like a triumphant general in front of the detention center and swagger through the heart of Seoul made my blood boil with anger," and added, "We must unite our efforts to overcome the rebellion and complete the impeachment."
Former Chief of Staff Im said, "The greatest power the people have is the power to endure and recover," and encouraged Lee by saying, "The Democratic Party must take deeper root among the people with Lee Jae-myung at the center."
Meanwhile, starting from that day, the Democratic Party began a walking march between the National Assembly and the tent protest site in Gwanghwamun. They plan to walk approximately 8.7 km every afternoon from the National Assembly to Gwanghwamun, urging the dismissal of President Yoon. On the 14th, they are considering holding an on-site Supreme Council meeting at the tent protest site in Gwanghwamun.
