Gimpo City Holds Meeting with Nonghyup Leaders to Discuss Branding of Gimpo Agriculture
Various Opinions Exchanged on Processed Rice Product Sales and Eco-friendly School Meals
Gimpo City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Byung-su) announced on the 12th that it held a meeting with current Nonghyup leaders on the 11th to shape the future of Gimpo through citizen communication in the 8th term of the local government, expanding the scope of administrative communication through various opinions and discussions.

Through this meeting, the city strengthened communication and cooperation systems among the leaders and provided an opportunity to exchange diverse opinions on the development of Gimpo agriculture.
The meeting was attended by heads of local Nonghyup organizations, including Park Yoo-sik, Head of the Nonghyup Central Association Gimpo Branch; Kim Myung-hee, Head of Gimpo Nonghyup; Park Ho-yeon, Head of New Gimpo Nonghyup; Jo Dong-hwan, Head of Gochon Nonghyup; and Lim Han-ho, Head of Gimpo Livestock Nonghyup. They listened to and discussed various opinions on the development direction of Gimpo agriculture this year and difficulties experienced in the agricultural field.
Additionally, discussions were held on discovering new projects and shifting agricultural policy directions in response to changing conditions, such as securing the competitiveness of Gimpo rice through the sale of processed rice products, branding of Gimpo Geumssal rice, and supplying eco-friendly agricultural products using local produce for school meals.
Mayor Kim Byung-su stated, “It is time to pay attention to developing processed foods that keep pace with changing dietary habits and tourism products that satisfy sightseeing and entertainment. Let us put our heads together not only to brand raw materials but also to try various approaches in response to changing conditions so that Gimpo’s food industry can further develop.”
In the 8th term of the local government, Gimpo City is accelerating the restoration of Jagwang rice, which embodies Gimpo’s identity, while developing a new variety called ‘Hangadeuk’ to replace Chucheong rice. On the 10th, the city signed a business agreement with related organizations to establish a stable production and supply system and expand sales channels, actively promoting the branding of Gimpo Geumssal rice.
