Listening to Difficulties Through Consultations with Related Organizations

The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority (Commissioner Koo Chungkon, hereinafter referred to as Gwangyang FEZ Authority) is actively addressing the difficulties faced by foreign-invested companies (hereinafter referred to as FDI companies) within its jurisdiction.

Last February, the Gwangyang FEZ Authority listened to various challenges faced by FDI companies, such as investment visas, customs clearance delays, and the increase of shipping routes to the Americas, during a meeting with the Consulate General of China in Gwangju to discuss ways to revitalize the economy, trade, and investment.

Accordingly, the authority began consultations with related organizations such as the Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority, immigration office, and customs corporations to discuss and address the difficulties raised by FDI companies.

Gu Jingqi, Consul General of China in Gwangju, stated, "I appreciate the Gwangyang FEZ Authority's active efforts to resolve the issues raised by FDI companies," and added, "We will continue to actively cooperate to expand investment and trade between the Gwangyang Bay Area and China."

Koo Chungkon, Commissioner of the Gwangyang FEZ Authority, said, "Despite the difficult domestic and international environment, such as the global economic slowdown and U.S. tariff impositions, we will do our best to ensure that FDI companies can trust and rely on our authority and conduct their business smoothly."

The Gwangyang FEZ Authority plans to jointly hold a meeting for FDI companies with KOTRA this April, where practical lectures and listening sessions for difficulties will be conducted. Through this, the authority aims to further strengthen the improvement of the business environment and support for FDI companies.
