[Featured Stock] CIMS, the Source Technology of the 3 Major Robots... Expected to be the Biggest Beneficiary of Coupang's 3 Trillion Logistics Automation Investment

CMES is showing strong performance. Amid growing expectations for the growth of the robotics industry, CMES is strengthening its cooperation with Coupang. Last month, CMES signed a contract with Coupang to install automated logistics robot solutions. The contract period is until the 30th of next month, and the scale corresponds to 8.2% of recent sales.

At 11:17 AM on the 12th, CMES was trading at 30,900 KRW, up 9.19% from the previous day.

CMES is participating in ‘AW 2025 (2025 Smart Factory & Automation Industry Exhibition)’ held at COEX, Seoul, until the 14th. CMES will showcase advanced palletizing used in actual mass production sites, world-class 3D inspection, and the piece picking solution with the highest demand for automation within logistics processes. The palletizing solution, which can handle multi-SKU processing with minimal equipment to maximize logistics efficiency, is expected to attract significant attention.

Earlier, AI vision robot solution company CMES announced on the 24th of last month that it will supply additional AI-based intelligent logistics robots to Coupang. CMES introduced that through this additional supply, its AI-based intelligent logistics robots will be utilized in some processes within Coupang’s fulfillment services.

Coupang is accelerating the establishment of nationwide Rocket Living Zones. With the goal of nationwide 'Kusegwon' (areas eligible for Rocket Delivery) by 2027, Coupang plans to invest over 3 trillion KRW by next year in expanding new fulfillment centers (FC), introducing advanced automation technologies, and upgrading delivery networks. It is strengthening investments in logistics automation. Last year, Coupang doubled the ratio of automated fulfillment and logistics infrastructure compared to the previous year. Currently, the highly automated ratio of its total infrastructure is only in the low teens percentage-wise, but Coupang plans to gradually increase this ratio by introducing robots and AI technologies.

Seunghwan Choi, a researcher at Shinhan Investment Corp., explained, "CMES has internalized the three core software technologies required for intelligent robots: 3D vision (recognition), AI algorithms (analysis), and robotics (operation)," adding, "It holds a ‘dominant’ position that allows selective choice of hardware." He continued, "With its own technology, CMES has secured large-scale projects from mega clients such as Coupang, Nike, and LG Energy Solution," and added, "The possibility of follow-up orders is a strong investment point."

Researcher Choi emphasized that CMES is the most advanced company in the practical application of intelligent robots.

Chulhwan Yoon, a researcher at Korea Investment & Securities, forecasted, "With numerous projects underway since the beginning of the year, significant external growth is expected," and predicted, "There will be a high contribution from sales to the largest domestic fulfillment company." He also noted, "Regarding piece picking solutions for fulfillment, initial supplies were completed last year targeting major bases ahead of large-scale supply this year," and expressed expectations that "about 30% of the total 2,000 lines across the customer’s nationwide fulfillment centers will be applied."
