Goryeong-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, has been operating the 'Smart Senior Center Project' for village residents at ten senior centers equipped with smart healthcare devices in Daegaya-eup from June 10 to September 24.
The Smart Senior Center Project is a program that provides self-health check services and health education services such as exercise and nutrition by utilizing senior centers equipped with ICT-based smart healthcare devices for the management of hypertension and diabetes, which are major causes of death from cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
When basic health data such as blood pressure, pulse, and stress index are measured using the smart healthcare devices, the measured data can be automatically linked and checked as accumulated data. At the same time, a health manager from the public health center conducts a regular checkup of the health measurement data transmitted from the device once a month, which is used as management data for high-risk groups.
In addition, the community center is visited once every two months per location, with a total of four program sessions, providing pre- and post-measurements of blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol, as well as integrated health management education on the prevention of hypertension and diabetes complications, exercise, nutrition, and smoking cessation.
County Governor Lee Namcheol stated, "We will do our best to eliminate health disparities and extend healthy life expectancy through self-health check services and specialized health education such as exercise and nutrition using the Smart Senior Center platform."
