Namyangju City Discusses Labor Issues with the Guri-Namyangju Representatives Meeting of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions

Gyeonggi Namyangju City (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 11th that it held a meeting with the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Guri Namyangju City Representatives' Council (Chairman Kim Bo-seop) at the Vice Mayor's office on the 10th to discuss local labor issues.

The meeting was attended by Vice Mayor Hong Ji-seon, Chairman Kim Bo-seop, executives of the city and the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, and representatives of affiliated labor unions.


The main issues discussed included △ priority employment and wage arrears of construction and machinery workers in the region △ deterioration of working conditions for delivery workers due to the relocation of the logistics terminal △ expansion of simple rest areas for mobile workers.


Chairman Kim Bo-seop said, “Construction and machinery workers are facing many difficulties due to the lack of guaranteed priority employment and wage arrears,” adding, “I hope the labor environment improves along with the expansion of simple rest areas for mobile workers.”


He continued, “The relocation of delivery terminals in Jingeon-eup and Onam-eup is causing disruptions in logistics transportation, and there are concerns about the deterioration of working conditions for Namyangju delivery workers,” adding, “We ask that labor, management, and government work together to find solutions.”


Vice Mayor Hong Ji-seon said, “I deeply thank the workers who took the time out of their busy schedules to voice valuable opinions for the development of city administration,” and added, “We will communicate with relevant departments and seek ways for labor, management, and government to cooperate so that the opinions given today can be realistically resolved.”
