Taean County in Chungnam has been selected for the “2025 Chungnam-style Village Development Project” hosted by Chungcheongnam-do, securing a project budget of 700 million KRW.
Taean County announced on the 11th that, according to a recent announcement by Chungnam Province, Yangsan 2-ri in Wonbuk-myeon and Sangok 3-ri in Taean-eup were both selected for the mid-sized and small-sized Chungnam-style Village Development Project, respectively.
The Chungnam-style Village Development Project aims to revitalize rural villages by systematically developing village communities through phased support tailored to each village’s capacity, ultimately creating rural areas where everyone wants to live.
In particular, the project focuses on fundamentally addressing social issues such as low birth rates, aging populations, and polarization based on resident-led community activities.
In Yangsan 2-ri, Wonbuk-myeon, 500 million KRW will be invested to achieve the goal of “A Happy Yangsan 2-ri Together in the Embrace of Nature,” which includes remodeling unused warehouses to create a Hanmaeum Learning Center (a resident education facility), fostering the Hanmaeum Happiness Project Group, creating a village garden, and organizing the Hanmaeum Harmony Festival.
In the case of Sangok 3-ri in Taean-eup, 200 million KRW will be invested under the theme “The Rural Guseulmok Village Where Flowers Gather Under Baekhwasan Mountain,” to establish the Guseulmok Harmony Project Group, foster the Guseulmok Happiness Sharing Club, and hold events to promote unity among returning farmers and new residents.
The project will be carried out over three years from this year until 2027. The county plans to promote village revitalization and strengthen residents’ capacities through the successful implementation of the project, taking the lead in creating a happy Taean.
A county official stated, “From 2021 to this year, a total of nine villages in Taean County have been selected for the Chungnam-style Village Development Project,” and added, “We will strive to enhance the sense of community among local residents and create opportunities for everyone to come together through the successful execution of these projects.”
Meanwhile, the Chungnam-style Village Development Project has been implemented since 2021, and Taean County has consistently achieved results each year, with Sangok 2-ri in Taean-eup selected in 2021, Inpyeong 2-ri in Taean-eup in 2022, Eoeun 2-ri and Jangsan 2-ri in Taean-eup in 2023, and Eoeun 1-ri, Bangok 2-ri, and Simok 1-ri in Sowon-myeon in 2024.
