The Marine Disaster Rescue Team is registered with the maritime police agency and assists in maritime police rescue operations and the prevention of maritime accidents. The team, affiliated with Mokpo Maritime Police Station, is expected to engage in a variety of rescue activities.
With the enforcement of the Marine Disaster Rescue Team Act, the name was changed from the previous Civilian Marine Rescue Team to the Marine Disaster Rescue Team. This change is expected to motivate team members to participate in rescue activities and instill a sense of responsibility, thereby contributing to the creation of a safer marine environment.
During the following meeting, participants shared operational plans for the Marine Disaster Rescue Team and discussed challenges encountered when mobilizing civilian rescue forces on site, further strengthening the public-private cooperation system.
A Mokpo Maritime Police official stated, "We will spare no effort in supporting the expansion of the Marine Disaster Rescue Team's personnel pool and strengthening its rescue capabilities through promotional activities and private consignment training."
