A Woman in Her 20s Fatally Stabbed During Live Broadcast in Central Tokyo
Suspect in His 40s Arrested at the Scene; Police Investigate Motive and Relationship
A woman in her 20s who was conducting a 'live broadcast' in the heart of Tokyo, Japan, was stabbed to death.
According to local media such as NHK and Yahoo Japan on the 11th, at around 9:50 a.m., the police received a report stating, "A person was stabbed with a knife on the street in Takadanobaba, Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo."
The victim was reportedly conducting a live broadcast on the street at the time of the incident. She was stabbed during the live broadcast and was transported to the hospital in an unconscious state but ultimately died.
The suspect, Mr. A (male, in his 40s), who was arrested at the scene, admitted to stabbing the woman with a knife but stated, "I did not intend to kill her." However, the police said, "We are considering applying murder charges based on the fact that the victim was attacked repeatedly in vital areas."
According to the police, an object presumed to have been used by the suspect was found at the scene. The investigation also confirmed that the suspect was carrying another knife.
The police plan to focus their investigation on the relationship between the suspect and the victim and the motive for the crime.
