"Aiming to Foster a Reading Culture"
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province is holding a citizen vote until the 20th to select the "One Book" for 2025.
According to the city on the 11th, citizens can participate in the vote via the Jeongeup City Library website, public and small libraries (a total of 16 locations), Jeongeup Student Welfare Center Library, and four local bookstores.

One book each from the general, youth, and children's categories will be selected through voting, and the book with the most votes in each category will be chosen.
The nominees in the general category are "Goethe Grandmother's Life Lessons" (Jeon Youngae), "One of These Is a Lie" (Kim Aeran), "Following a Small Light" (Kwon Yeoreum), and "Harbin" (Kim Hoon).
In the youth category, the nominees are "Silent Coincidence" (Kim Subin) and "How to Become an Adult Without Dying" (Kang Jiyeong). In the children's category, the nominees include "If You Want the Banana to Arrive Earlier" (Jung Jinho), "Star Uncle" (Han Damhee), and "100 Ways to Draw an Apple" (Park Ido).
This year's "One Book" will be announced at the proclamation ceremony held at 2 p.m. on the 29th at Jeongeup City Central Library, where a lecture by the selected author and a balloon performance will also take place.
The city plans to run various related programs to promote a reading culture, such as reading programs brought to schools, summer vacation reading camps, and family reading quiz events.
Mayor Lee Haksoo said, "We aim to create a reading culture where citizens can empathize and connect through books they have chosen themselves," and added, "I hope many citizens participate in the vote and join us in making Jeongeup a city of readers."
