Part-time Worker (15) Sexually Assaulted by Restaurant Owner
"Nature of the Crime Not Minor... No Remorse Shown"
Both Prosecution and Defendant Appeal After Trial
A man in his 30s who was prosecuted for sexually assaulting a minor part-time worker at his restaurant received a prison sentence.
According to the legal community on the 11th, Mr. A (35), who was charged with violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse (sexual assault), was sentenced to one year in prison. In addition, he was ordered to complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program and was banned from working at child and youth-related institutions and disability-related institutions for three years.
On February 19 of last year, around 8:30 p.m., Mr. A approached Ms. B (15), who had finished her shift in front of his restaurant, saying "Good job," and suddenly hugged her. He then covered her face with both hands and kissed her on the forehead. Even when Ms. B turned her head to refuse, he repeatedly kissed her on both cheeks and lips. Furthermore, when Ms. B avoided Mr. A by going into the restaurant storage room to change clothes and came out, he hugged her again, turned her body, hugged her from behind, and touched both of her breasts with both hands, committing the assault.
The court explained the sentencing by stating, "The crime of sexually assaulting a child and adolescent working part-time at his own restaurant is not minor in nature," and "He denied the crime and showed no remorse, and was not forgiven by the victim." After the trial, it was reported that both the prosecution and the defendant submitted appeals to the court.
