The Hanam City Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group plays a role in helping women and men participate equally in policy decisions within the local community and serves a key role in proposing institutional improvements to create a city where care and safety are harmonized.
At this workshop, Park Eun-soon, a consultant on Gyeonggi-do Women-Friendly Cities and Gender Impact Assessment, was invited to introduce excellent policies and cases from citizen participation groups of other local governments and to discuss in depth ways to apply them to Hanam City.
Additionally, the citizen participation group was divided into four subcommittees to share various cases for creating a women-friendly city and to discuss policy proposals through subcommittee meetings.
During this process, several measures to revitalize the citizen participation group were proposed. Key topics discussed included expanding education and workshops to strengthen the capacity for regular meetings by subcommittee, presenting evaluations and improvement plans for women-friendly city policies, and enhancing promotion and monitoring of women-friendly city projects. The citizen participation group plans to continuously propose and improve policies through subcommittee activities in the future.
Meanwhile, since being designated as a women-friendly city in December 2020, Hanam City has signed agreements with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and has been promoting various specialized projects. Representative examples include creating safe return home paths for women and supporting Hanam City fathers with childcare leave incentives, fostering an environment where women and families can live safely and conveniently.
