KGM Launches Its First Hybrid Model
Fuel Efficiency Enhanced... Achieves Combined Fuel Economy of 15.7 km/L
KG Mobility (hereinafter KGM) is entering the domestic hybrid market by launching its brand's first hybrid model, the 'Torres Hybrid (HEV)'.
KGM announced on the 11th that it released the Torres HEV to respond to the rapidly changing domestic market demand. The domestic hybrid market has been growing at an average annual rate of over 44% since 2020.
The Torres HEV, styled as a traditional sports utility vehicle (SUV), is launched with product competitiveness including excellent price competitiveness compared to competing vehicles, optimized electric driving mode for everyday urban driving, top-level fuel efficiency improvement rate, authentic outdoor sensibility, and stable ride comfort.
The selling price of the Torres HEV is 31.4 million KRW for the T5 and 36.35 million KRW for the T7 after applying the individual consumption tax (3.5%) and eco-friendly vehicle tax benefits. A KGM official explained that the price increase compared to the gasoline model was minimized.
KGM equipped the Torres HEV with a 'Dual Tech Hybrid System.' This system applies a next-generation hybrid system with a series-parallel dual motor, achieving excellent fuel efficiency and securing driving performance.
The Torres HEV achieved a combined fuel efficiency of 15.7 km/ℓ, a 41% improvement compared to the gasoline model. The Torres HEV equipped with 20-inch wheels showed the best combined fuel efficiency of 15.2 km/ℓ among hybrid models in the same class.
Equipped with an HEV-exclusive transmission, it allows driving in various modes, and during urban driving, it can run up to 94% in electric (EV) mode. Additionally, it is equipped with the largest capacity 1.83 kWh battery compared to competing models, maximizing system efficiency through stable current supply.
KGM significantly improved the convenience features of the Torres HEV. The 12.3-inch digital cluster applies the next-generation infotainment platform 'Athena 2.0' with an integrated day and night GUI (Graphical User Interface), allowing intuitive viewing of various driving information. Driver convenience features have been enhanced with wireless software updates (OTA), added navigation map cluster dual-map expansion function, and added second-row heated seat control menu.
A KGM official said, "Starting with the launch of the Torres Hybrid, KGM plans to lead the popularization of hybrids by introducing hybrid models of various vehicle types."
