The 'Vocational Education Innovation District' project aims to foster customized talent to meet local demands by establishing a growth pathway for high school graduates through cooperation among vocational high schools, local companies, and universities.

With this selection, Pohang City has gained an important opportunity to strengthen specialized vocational education in the secondary battery industry, which is a strategic local industry.

Through this project, the city will create a vocational education ecosystem in which vocational high schools, universities, and companies in the region cooperate organically, establishing a foundation for systematically nurturing talent tailored to industrial needs.

The city plans to develop customized curricula linked to the core local industry of secondary batteries, reorganize vocational high school departments to foster industry-specific talent, and support credit acquisition in connection with local universities after employment.

In addition, the city will systematically promote the Vocational Education Innovation District project in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education, and establish a sustainable talent development model.

To this end, the city will develop customized education programs in collaboration with industries and expand training support to enhance the expertise of teachers.

Furthermore, by signing agreements with outstanding local companies, the city will actively provide employment opportunities for vocational high school graduates within the region and implement stable employment support measures to help young people settle locally.

Mayor Lee Kangdeok stated, "Being selected as a Vocational Education Innovation District will be a significant turning point in nurturing talent to lead the future of the region," and added, "By linking the creation of a specialized secondary battery industrial complex, we will produce highly skilled technical talent locally and, through close cooperation with educational institutions and companies, make Pohang the leading hub of vocational education in Korea."
