The district plans to offer specialized courses in various fields so that any resident aged 60 or older with the willingness and capability to work can find successful employment connections.

This year, 80 participants will be selected to participate in four program fields: ▲Barista Training (20 people) ▲Senior Cognitive and Physical Activity Instructor (20 people) ▲Healthy Lunchbox Cooking (20 people) ▲Garden Management Instructor (20 people). Each field consists of professional education, practical training (self-help meetings), and certification acquisition courses.

The ‘Barista Training Course’ supports seniors preparing for their second act in life as professional baristas by providing theoretical and practical training such as espresso extraction and latte art, along with assistance in obtaining a Level 2 Barista Certificate. The ‘Senior Cognitive and Physical Activity Instructor’ course trains instructors to guide healthy daily living through brain gymnastics, healing health exercises, food therapy, and dementia prevention rules. After completing the course, participants can work as instructors at long-term care institutions and other facilities.

The ‘Healthy Lunchbox Cooking Course’ helps participants acquire skills in manufacturing, packaging, and selling items such as sandwiches and salads to build a foundation and experience for employment or entrepreneurship. The ‘Garden Management Instructor Course’ offers specialized education in gardening and crop cultivation to support job connections as urban agriculture instructors, such as elementary school garden teachers.

The All-in-One Customized Job Program is open to any Yangcheon-gu resident aged 60 or older who wishes to find employment. Applications can be submitted by visiting the Yangcheon Senior Club by the 31st of this month. Last year, the district operated courses in barista training, paper folding instruction, and storytelling instruction, achieving a 94% certification acquisition rate (49 out of 52 selected participants) and an 81% job placement success rate (42 people).

District Mayor Lee Gijae said, “Through customized job programs for retirees and the senior generation, I hope residents aged 60 and over who want to work can demonstrate their capabilities,” adding, “We will continue to develop generation-specific customized job policies to create an environment where everyone can work freely.”
