Sancheong County Governor Lee Seunghwa Joins Wildfire Prevention Awareness Campaign

County Holds Campaign at Donguibogam Village
Raising Awareness of Wildfire Risks

Sancheong County, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 11th that it held a 'Province-wide Wildfire Prevention Campaign' at Donguibogam Village.

This campaign was conducted simultaneously in 18 cities and counties across the province to raise awareness as the risk of wildfires increases due to spring farming activities and the growing number of hikers.

More than 60 people, including members from the Sancheong Police Station, Sancheong Fire Station, Sancheong County Forestry Cooperative, and volunteer fire brigades, participated in the campaign, carrying out promotional activities for wildfire prevention targeting visitors and hikers.

In particular, they actively promoted the prohibition of cooking in forests, the ban on carrying flammable materials when entering the mountains, and the prohibition of burning agricultural by-products and waste near forests, urging active participation in wildfire prevention efforts.

Currently, Sancheong County operates wildfire suppression vehicles in all towns and villages for initial response, and professional wildfire prevention and suppression teams are assigned to designated areas.

Additionally, wildfire prevention banners have been installed at all village halls to raise awareness, and the status of suppression vehicles and equipment is regularly checked to ensure a prompt response in case of a wildfire.

Lee Seunghwa, the governor of Sancheong County, said, "I hope this campaign contributes to raising awareness about wildfire prevention," and added, "We will do our best to protect clean Sancheong, so we ask for your active participation."
