A total of 3.557 billion KRW invested... Support for job creation
Improvements expected in employment conditions for shipbuilding, automobile, and petrochemical industries
Ulsan City has secured 2.78 billion KRW in national funding after being selected for the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Regional and Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project'.
The 'Regional and Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project' aims to create jobs and improve the quality of employment by reflecting the characteristics and industrial conditions of each region.
With the national funding secured through this selection, the city will additionally invest 777 million KRW from its own budget, bringing the total project budget to 3.557 billion KRW. This will be used to support employment retention for new and incumbent workers in the shipbuilding, automobile, and petrochemical sectors, as well as to improve working conditions for companies.
The projects selected for this round of funding in Ulsan target the city's key industrial sectors and include: ▲Shipbuilding Plus Job Project ▲Automobile Industry Win-Win Agreement Expansion Support Project ▲Petrochemical Industry Win-Win Agreement Expansion Support Project, for a total of three projects.
The ▲Shipbuilding Plus Job Project aims to encourage the reemployment of new hires and retired skilled workers, and to support environmental improvements for companies that hire workers. It also provides housing support for new hires from other regions.
The ▲Automobile and Petrochemical Industry Win-Win Agreement Expansion Support Projects aim to facilitate stable job entry and long-term employment for new hires, address the dual structure by supporting the reduction of wage and welfare gaps between primary contractors and subcontractors, and promote information exchange among related organizations.
The city expects that the implementation of the 'Regional and Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project' following this selection will enhance employment stability and welfare for new and incumbent workers in Ulsan's main industries of shipbuilding, automobile, and petrochemical sectors.
It is also anticipated that this will help resolve the skilled workforce shortage resulting from the recovery of the shipbuilding industry and contribute to narrowing the wage gap between primary contractors and subcontractors.
An Ulsan City official stated, "Through this project, we will work to solve the manpower shortage in major industries such as shipbuilding and create a stable employment environment," adding, "We will build a sustainable job model where companies and workers can grow together."
