Gyeongbuk Provincial Council Begins 10-Day Extraordinary Session... Provincial Administration Questions by Lee Chilgu, Lim Gijin, and Yoon Cheolnam

The Gyeongbuk Provincial Council (Chairman Park Seongman) will convene its 353rd extraordinary session for 10 days from the 11th to the 20th. During this session, the council plans to address provincial government questions, appoint auditors for the 2024 fiscal year settlement, and handle various livelihood-related ordinances.

At the first plenary session on the 11th, Lee Chilgu (Pohang), Lim Gijin (Proportional), and Yoon Cheolnam (Yeongyang) will be the first to question the provincial administration this year, examining issues in provincial and educational administration and presenting policy alternatives.

Lee Chilgu will ask questions about the East Sea deep-sea gas field development project, Gyeongbuk's plans for the early construction of the Yeongilman Bridge, and matters related to the POSCO-type hydrogen reduction steelmaking. Lim Gijin will inquire about policies for youth employment tailored to regional characteristics, the establishment of a safety assurance system for farmers, and measures for the stable future operation of the Gyeongbuk Forest Academy. Yoon Cheolnam will address issues regarding Gyeongbuk's chili pepper agriculture, plans to vitalize tourism in northern Gyeongbuk using forest resources, and the expansion of road infrastructure in Yeongyang-gun. These questions will be broadcast live on TV.

To audit the 2024 fiscal year settlements of Gyeongsangbuk-do and the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education, the council plans to appoint 10 settlement auditors, including three provincial council members?Do Giuk (Yecheon), Lee Hyungsik (Yecheon), and Jeong Gyeongmin (Proportional)?along with tax accountants, certified public accountants, and other private sector experts.

The second plenary session will be held on the 20th, beginning with five-minute free speeches on various current issues, followed by the handling of livelihood-related ordinances and other agenda items before closing.

Park Seongman, Chairman of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council, emphasized in his opening remarks, "Our Gyeongbuk has always risen up in times of national crisis and played a key role in safeguarding the Republic of Korea," and urged, "Do not be swayed by the impeachment verdict, and let us unite our capabilities to ensure the successful hosting of the 2025 APEC Summit and the smooth progress of regional projects."
