"Don't Worry About Parking" ... Changwon Special City Establishes 22 Shared Parking Lots with 402 Spaces Changwon Special City Creates 22 Shared Parking Lots with 402 Spaces in the First Half of the Year.

There will be 18 temporary parking lots with 305 spaces created by utilizing idle vacant land or empty lots. Specifically, 5 locations in Buk-myeon and Myeongseo-dong, Uichang-gu will provide 46 spaces; 4 locations in Sangnam-dong and Wanwol-dong, Masanhappo-gu will offer 29 spaces; 1 location in Hapseong-dong, Masanhoewon-gu will have 10 spaces; and 8 locations in Seok-dong and Nammun-dong, Jinhae-gu will provide 220 spaces.

Additionally, four open parking lots with 97 spaces will be created by opening up annexed parking lots of public facilities, religious institutions, and hospitals to local residents during unused hours. These include two locations at Changwon High School and Sindeung Elementary School in Uichang-gu with 35 spaces, Anmin Middle School in Seongsan-gu with 46 spaces, and Pyeongseong Church in Masanhoewon-gu with 16 spaces.

The city will support facility improvement costs for institutions and owners participating in the open parking lot project. Owners who provide land for temporary parking lots will receive property tax reduction benefits.

The temporary parking lot project targets vacant land with no planned use for at least two years and utilizes the space with the owner's approval for free use. Landowners will receive a 100% property tax exemption and support for environmental maintenance of the vacant land.

For the open parking lot project, if annexed parking lots at schools, public institutions, religious facilities, or hospitals are opened for more than two years, support will be provided for improvements such as parking surface maintenance and CCTV installation.

The city plans to continue promoting the shared parking lot project to alleviate parking shortages, and active interest and participation from citizens and institutions are needed. Institutions or building (land) owners wishing to open their parking lots for certain hours or offer vacant land for parking can apply at any time to the Economic and Transportation Division of their district office or the local administrative welfare center.

Lee Jonggeun, Director of the Transportation and Construction Bureau, said, "It costs a significant amount to create a single parking space in urban areas, but shared parking lots can secure many spaces with a small budget, greatly contributing to budget savings and improving parking convenience for citizens. We ask for active participation from citizens."
