Celebrating the Designation as Korea's Fifth Ancient Capital
A Festival of Unity for Goryeong Residents
Recently, Goryeong-gun, the former capital of the Daegaya Kingdom, was officially designated as the fifth ancient capital of Korea by the National Heritage Administration. To promote and commemorate its value as the center of Daegaya's history and culture, the TV Chosun "Sing Korea" Goryeong-gun episode finals were held at the Munhwanoori Ureuk Hall on the 9th.
At the preliminary round held on the 4th, more than 80 teams participated, demonstrating the high interest of local residents. Among them, 13 teams advanced to the finals, showcasing their charm with overflowing excitement and talent. In addition, around 1,000 spectators visited the venue to cheer on the participants, adding to the enthusiastic atmosphere.
Alongside the competition, Goryeong's local specialties such as strawberries, melons, and chamoe were introduced, and special guest singers Na Sangdo, Kim Yongpil, Kim Euiyoung, and Lee Aeran performed, further boosting the event's popularity. Host Jo Younggu led the "Sokpuri Mic" segment, providing joy and laughter to the audience.
County Governor Lee Namcheol participated until the end of the event and stated, "Regardless of the rankings, it was truly moving to see all residents united through music. Goryeong, as the city of Daegaya, will continue to achieve sustainable development in cooperation with the local community."
The TV Chosun "Sing Korea Goryeong-gun Special" is scheduled to air at 4:30 PM on Sunday, April 20.
