Became Famous for Health Advice Videos
Shocking Revelation: "Fake Created by AI App"
A doctor who gained popularity as a health advice influencer on TikTok, a video platform owned by China's ByteDance, was revealed to be an avatar generated by artificial intelligence (AI).
On the 7th (local time), the British daily The Independent reported that controversy arose after an expos? revealed that a doctor popular for health advice on TikTok was a fake created by an AI app.
According to The Independent, searching for the slang term for a female obstetrician and gynecologist, ‘coochie doctor,’ on TikTok brings up numerous videos where AI bots posing as doctors give advice. Most of them introduce themselves with phrases like “I have worked as an obstetrician and gynecologist for over ten years” or “I am an expert in plastic surgery and dieting,” and share health tips.
In one video, the coochie doctor suggested eating pineapple and cucumber salad for gut health and compared ingredients such as lemon balm and Ozempic.
The video recorded nearly 3 million views. Thousands of people watched the video and requested lemon balm recipes, and there were 36,000 comments asking where to purchase it.
However, a TikTok user named Jaybone Ford, who runs a beauty brand under his own name, shocked many by exposing that the ‘coochie doctor’ was created by an AI app.
He claimed, “This creepy doctor was created through an app called ‘Captions’ that generates AI avatars.”
He said he accidentally discovered the same doctor on TikTok as an avatar named ‘Violet’ on this app while exploring avatars.
He added that he was able to create videos where Violet gives advice like a doctor by inputting scripts himself, pointing out that “numerous videos featuring AI fake doctors provide unprofessional advice.”
Following Jaybone Ford Beauty’s expos?, TikTok users reacted with shock, saying “This is scary,” and “I would have been fooled if no one told me.” Additional revelations included comments like “I saw a video where Violet claimed to be a dentist.”
