Integrated Launch Ceremony for Senior Job Projects Held in Seongnam City
Over 12,000 Seniors to Benefit from Job and Social Activity Programs
City Invests 45.7 Billion KRW to Support Senior Employment and Welfare

The launch ceremony was held to deliver encouraging messages to a total of 12,422 participants in the senior job and social activity support project and the senior small job project. The event included the reading of a declaration by male and female representatives of senior jobs, a performance shouting “Seongnam City’s vibrant jobs are the safest!”, and safety education.
The city will invest a total project budget of 45.676 billion KRW in the two projects by the end of the year.
Of this, the budget allocated for senior job and social activity support is 36.163 billion KRW (including 17.35824 billion KRW in national funds), creating jobs for 8,032 people.
The jobs include storytelling at children’s facilities, neighborhood love environmental monitors (public interest activities), public parking lot managers, assistant teachers in elementary school morning care classes (utilizing senior capabilities), pet cafes, rice cake manufacturing (community business groups), security guards, cleaners (employment placement type), and senior English life project groups, among others.
The senior small job project has created 4,390 jobs with a self-funded budget of 9.513 billion KRW.
These jobs include senior center safety keepers, senior center meal helpers, environmental maintenance, clean park keepers, silver no-smoking zone keepers, and welfare helpers.
Seniors participating in the two projects receive activity fees ranging from approximately 110,000 KRW to 690,000 KRW per month depending on their field and monthly activity hours.
Mayor Shin Sang-jin of Seongnam City said, “We have invested an unprecedented amount of project funds to create jobs to support the vibrant old age of seniors,” adding, “We will continue to focus on creating various jobs suited to the aptitudes and abilities of local seniors and improving senior welfare.”
