Daejeon Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency announced on the 6th that it had signed a business agreement with Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) to promote the 'Regional Urban Convergence Technology R&D Project'.

Through this agreement, the two organizations will cooperate in sharing research and development technologies and information for future mobility services, publicizing research achievements, and contributing to community development, with the Daejeon Urban Convergence Special Zone as their base.

The Promotion Agency, which is overseeing the project, aims to build a digital hub platform by 2029 that collects and analyzes transportation and energy data from downtown Daejeon and provides information for policy decision-making.

KORAIL Railroad Research Institute will support the establishment of an 'AI-based pedestrian-oriented transportation usage prediction system' in the field of new transportation services. By analyzing pedestrian identification, congestion, transfers, and other movement patterns at Daejeon Station, the system will predict transportation usage and will be utilized for future Mobility as a Service (MaaS) integration and the establishment of an Urban Air Mobility (UAM) transfer system.

Hwang Sunho, Director of the Digital Innovation Promotion Division at Daejeon Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency, said, "We will actively cooperate with KORAIL to develop new transportation service technologies, a major task of the Daejeon Urban Convergence Special Zone, and create successful cases of urban innovation."

Park Chaeok, Director of the KORAIL Railroad Research Institute, stated, "We will make efforts for the development of the Daejeon Urban Convergence Special Zone and the local community by actively utilizing our research capabilities in railway infrastructure and smart mobility technology to provide empirical data."
