Professor Yang Cheon-su of Yeungnam University School of Law (President Choi Oe-chul) recently announced on the 6th that he received the '29th Legal Research Paper Award' at the regular general meeting of the Korean Law Academy held at The Plaza Hotel in Seoul.
The Legal Research Paper Award is a prestigious award given by the Korean Law Academy, a corporation, to researchers who have contributed to the development of legal culture and increased enthusiasm for legal research. The selection of this year's recipient was made through a review process based on recommendations from various institutions and academic societies, from papers published in the indexed journal 'Justice' issued by the Korean Law Academy over the past two years.
Through his paper titled "General Clauses and Interpretation," Professor Yang conducted an in-depth analysis of what general clauses are, how to categorize and interpret them, and their limitations. Bae Hyung-won, Chairman of the Legal Research Paper Award Selection Committee and Deputy Director of the Supreme Court Administration Office, stated, "The paper was highly evaluated for not only staying within theoretical research but also delicately addressing issues with concrete examples on a practical level."
Professor Yang has served as the Director of the Yeungnam University Legal Research Institute and Vice Dean of the School of Law, dedicating himself to academic research and nurturing future scholars. In 2022, he also received the 1st Korean Law Professors Association Academic Award.
