On the 5th, National Assembly Agriculture, Food, Rural Affairs, Oceans and Fisheries Committee Chairman Eo Kigu (The Minjoo Party of Korea, Dangjin-si, Chungnam) held a meeting with Miguel Angel Romero, Ambassador of Paraguay to Korea, to discuss ways to expand economic cooperation and exchanges between the two countries.
Chairman Eo Kigu and Ambassador Romero exchanged views on topics such as expanding trade between Korea and Paraguay, increasing Korean companies' entry into Paraguay, and strengthening agricultural cooperation related to food security.
Ambassador Romero stated, "Chairman Eo Kigu has recently been elected as the president of the Korea-Paraguay Parliamentary Friendship Association, and Paraguay regards Korea as a key strategic partner," emphasizing, "We look forward to even greater cooperation in new areas in the future."
Chairman Eo Kigu responded, "This year marks the meaningful 60th anniversary of Korean immigration to Paraguay. Although the two countries are geographically distant, our hearts are close. Paraguay has the third largest Korean community in South America (about 5,000 people) and is a key partner country for Korea's ODA. I hope that future development cooperation projects between our two countries will create a win-win relationship for both sides."
Ambassador Romero delivered an invitation to visit Paraguay to Chairman Eo Kigu, who expressed his intention to continue actively promoting exchanges and cooperation with Paraguay through parliamentary diplomacy.
