Irem is showing a sharp rise following U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks expressing hope for South Korea's participation in the Alaska gas pipeline project.
As of 2:42 PM on the 5th, Irem is trading at 1,180 KRW, up 6.21% compared to the previous day.
On the 4th (local time), President Trump claimed in his first congressional speech of his second term that South Korea has agreed to invest trillions of dollars in the U.S. Alaska natural gas pipeline project.
The Alaska gas development project is an energy development initiative that President Trump is particularly focused on, aiming to revive the domestic energy industry through massive increases in oil and gas production. President Trump also signed an executive order removing all restrictions on natural gas development in Alaska. The U.S. expects other LNG demand countries such as South Korea and Japan to participate in the project from the development stage based on long-term purchase agreements.
Irem has obtained certification from major global classification societies, including the Korean Register (KR), and is reliably supplying shipbuilding steel pipes, including LNG (liquefied natural gas) pipes. Recently, in line with the domestic shipbuilding industry's order boom, it expanded its special steel pipe facilities and completed the expansion of thick-walled pipe facilities at its Buan plant to increase production of high value-added products. From 2020 to 2023, Irem's shipbuilding steel pipe sales have rapidly grown with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 146.6%.
