Secured 90 Million KRW in National Funding
Promoting Drone Delivery and Safety Monitoring
Ulsan Ulju-gun announced on the 5th that it has been selected for the ‘2025 K-Drone Delivery Commercialization Support Project’ for the second consecutive year by applying for the contest hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and organized by the Aviation Safety Technology Institute.
The K-Drone Delivery Commercialization Support Project is a government-funded initiative targeting local governments that conducted deliveries under last year’s ‘Drone Demonstration City Construction Project.’
Ulju-gun showed outstanding performance by ranking second among participating local governments with K-Drone Delivery in last year’s project. This year, it was finally selected after evaluation by the Aviation Safety Technology Institute by adding ‘safety monitoring,’ a public service using drones.
Following this selection, Ulju-gun secured 90 million KRW in national funding and plans to promote the project under the theme of ‘Drone Standard City Ulju,’ aiming to establish new industries responsible for the rest and life of Ulju residents. Together with participating businesses in the Drone Special Free Zone, it plans to lead the delivery era with differentiated services.
The main contents include △ K-Drone Delivery in the areas of Ganwoljae, Sinbulsan County Park Campground, and Jinha Beach △ safety monitoring for a safe environment in the delivery vicinity.
In the second year of the project, Ulju-gun will expand the weight limit of drone-delivered goods to 5 kg and build a system that allows ordering items from multiple franchises at once to improve services. Additionally, it plans to add village hall delivery points and analyze the efficiency of drone delivery in preparation for the future drone delivery era.
County Governor Lee Soon-geol said, “Taking this consecutive two-year project selection as an opportunity, we will strive harder to make ‘Drone Standard City Ulju’ recognized by everyone as a leader in South Korea’s drone industry,” and added, “We will introduce drone services in various fields including tourism and safety to lead innovative changes.”
