Shin Jung-hoon, Chairman of the Chamjoeun Local Government Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea (representing Naju and Hwasun in South Jeolla Province), successfully held the 'Committee Inauguration Ceremony and Livelihood Policy Report Conference' at the main conference hall of the National Assembly Members' Office Building on the 4th.

Held under the slogan 'The Democratic Party Changes Through Local Political Innovation,' the event was attended by over 800 people from across the country. The Livelihood Policy Report Conference shared a variety of cases that have brought about tangible changes in local communities, including ▲the Buyeo-gun local currency policy ▲Paju City's livelihood recovery support fund ▲the ordinance enactment case by Jinju City Council ▲the ordinance by Jangheung County Council, among others.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by key figures including Floor Leader Park Chan-dae, Supreme Council Member Kim Min-seok, heads of local governments, and members of metropolitan and basic councils. Choi Jung-woong, a member of the Busanjin District Council, and Aisru, a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, read the resolution, pledging that the Democratic Party would do its utmost to win the local elections and promote the development of local governments.

In his welcoming remarks, Chairman Shin Jung-hoon stated, "Local governments must become a crucial pillar of Korea's development," and added, "The Chamjoeun Local Government Committee will serve as a policy hub connecting the central and local governments, striving to discover tailored policies and achieve tangible legislative outcomes."

He continued, "The Democratic Party's local governments must be different. What matters most to the people is politics that can be felt in the field," emphasizing, "Although our party has operated many local governments for 30 years, if there is no change or innovation, why would the people vote for us? The Democratic Party's local governments must regain trust through new visions and actions."

Chairman Shin also said, "Even with insufficient support from the central government, the Democratic Party's local governments have taken the lead in protecting livelihoods and revitalizing local economies," adding, "We will continue to strengthen the role of local governments and create tangible changes by finding answers in the field."

Meanwhile, despite the Yoon Suk-yeol administration's policy of not providing budget support, the Chamjoeun Local Government Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea issued 335 billion won in livelihood recovery support funds and 200 billion won in local currency around the end of last year and the Lunar New Year, revitalizing local economies and receiving high praise from residents. In addition, the committee plans to prepare and promote concrete action plans focusing on various agendas such as ▲the 30th anniversary expo of local autonomy ▲additional issuance of local currency ▲local economic revitalization, among others.
