Accordingly, the city will accept applications for Opportunity Income for Farmers and Fishermen from the 24th of this month until April 23rd. Through this reorganization, the support system will be unified to improve administrative efficiency and provide broader benefits to farmers and fishermen.

Opportunity Income for Farmers and Fishermen is a project that supports farmers and fishermen who contribute to social value creation activities in response to the crisis of rural extinction. Youth, returnees to farming, and environmentally friendly farmers and fishermen can receive 1.8 million KRW per year (150,000 KRW per month), while general farmers and fishermen can receive 600,000 KRW per year (50,000 KRW per month).

The recipients must be registered farmers and fishermen under agricultural and fishery management entities who have had a continuous residence in Pocheon City for more than one year (or discontinuous residence for more than two years within Gyeonggi Province), and have been engaged in agricultural and fishery production activities continuously for more than one year in Pocheon City (or continuously for two years within Gyeonggi Province).

Those who have received benefits fraudulently or whose comprehensive income outside agriculture exceeds 37 million KRW per year are excluded from eligibility. In addition, if benefits are obtained through fraudulent means, recovery measures will be taken and applications may be restricted for five years.

Applicants can apply by visiting the administrative welfare center in their resident registration area or through the integrated support system for Opportunity Income for Farmers and Fishermen. Payments will be made twice a year, at the end of June and December.

Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon City said, "We hope that Opportunity Income for Farmers and Fishermen will help stabilize the income of farmers and fishermen, enhance the value of agriculture through practical support, and improve the quality of life for agricultural workers."
