Lee Jaemyung to Meet Lee Jaeyong to Discuss Youth Employment Issues
Semiconductor Act and Trade Issues Also Expected to Be Discussed
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, will meet with Lee Jae-yong, chairman of Samsung Electronics, on the 20th to discuss support measures for youth employment.
According to a Democratic Party official on the 4th, Lee will visit SSAFY, a youth employment support academy operated by Samsung Electronics and the Ministry of Employment and Labor, on the 20th. Located in Yeoksam-dong, SSAFY runs employment support and software education programs for young people. Chairman Lee and other SSAFY operators are expected to welcome Lee's visit.
Previously, Lee visited corporate sites such as Hyundai Motor's Asan plant to listen to business owners' difficulties and discuss policies. This meeting with Chairman Lee is understood to be an extension of such schedules.
A party official said, "We expect in-depth discussions and support measures for young people facing the greatest difficulties in entering society amid the economic crisis."
Discussions related to the Semiconductor Special Act, which is currently pending due to conflicts over the exemption clause for R&D workers' 52-hour workweek, are also expected. A party official stated, "Samsung Electronics plays a pivotal role in semiconductor exports," adding, "While trade issues and economic matters are not scheduled topics for the day, they remain open for discussion."
