The meeting was organized to listen to explanations from the executive branch about the plans and progress of the joint comprehensive funeral facility construction project and to discuss the project promotion plan together after collecting residents' opinions.

The meeting was attended by Chairman Jo Seong-dae of the council, Vice Chairman Lee Jeong-ae, Operations Committee Chair Lee Jin-hwan, Autonomous Administration Committee Chair Han Geun-su, Welfare and Environment Committee Chair Lee Kyung-sook, Urban Transportation Committee Chair Park Kyung-won, and council members Kim Dong-hoon, Kim Ji-hoon (Democratic), Lee Soo-ryun, and Kim Sang-soo. Resident representatives included Jo Yang-rae, President of the Namyangju City Union of Village and Neighborhood Heads, Jang Tae-sik, President of the Namyangju City Residents' Autonomy Council, and its executives, as well as the Director of the Welfare Bureau. The meeting proceeded with explanations from the executive branch on the direction of the comprehensive funeral facility construction and listening to and discussing opinions from resident representatives.

First, the executive branch explained the inconveniences faced by citizens due to the lack of cremation facilities in the area, followed by a detailed explanation of the background, progress, and issues of the comprehensive funeral facility construction project jointly undertaken by six cities and counties including Namyangju, Uijeongbu, Yangju, Guri, Pocheon, and Dongducheon.

During the subsequent discussion, various opinions were presented between the council leadership and resident representatives. They agreed to sufficiently gather opinions from residents in each region regarding the joint promotion plan by the six cities and counties and the city’s own promotion plan, and to discuss the matter again in the future.

Chairman Jo Seong-dae stated, “The reason the 'Joint Investment Agreement for the Yangju City Joint Comprehensive Funeral Facility Construction Project' submitted by the executive branch was deferred at last year’s extraordinary session was because the process of gathering residents’ opinions on whether it is appropriate to introduce this facility in Yangju City and whether our city has the conditions to build such a facility was absolutely insufficient.” He added, “Based on the valuable opinions received today, we will continue communication among the council, the executive branch, and residents through consultations to ensure the project proceeds in a way that benefits our city and meets citizens’ wishes.”

Meanwhile, at the 3rd plenary session of the 307th extraordinary session held last year, the 'Joint Investment Agreement for the Yangju City Joint Comprehensive Funeral Facility Construction Project' submitted by the executive branch was deferred due to opinions that more in-depth discussion was necessary.
