Namwon City in North Jeolla Province announced on the 28th that it will invest 7.3 billion KRW this year to provide purchase subsidies for 529 electric vehicles in two rounds, in the first and second halves of the year, to reduce fine dust and improve air quality.
For the first half of the year, the supply volume by vehicle type is 165 electric passenger cars and 104 electric trucks. According to the electric vehicle subsidy policy, Namwon City, North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province, and the national government will provide differentiated subsidies by vehicle type. The maximum subsidy is 12.5 million KRW for electric passenger cars and 17 million KRW for electric trucks.
In addition, an extra 2.5 million KRW will be provided for electric taxis, and small business owners purchasing electric trucks will receive an additional 30% of the national subsidy amount. For low-income households, an additional 20% of the national subsidy will be provided for electric passenger cars and 30% for electric trucks.
Notably, starting this year, young adults (ages 19-34) purchasing their first car as an electric vehicle will receive an additional 20% of the national and provincial subsidy. For individuals from multi-child families (with two or more children under 18), up to 3.5 million KRW will be provided additionally depending on the number of children.
Among electric truck buyers who own diesel trucks, those who do not scrap their old vehicles will have 500,000 KRW deducted from their performance subsidy, while those who do scrap their vehicles will receive an additional 500,000 KRW, further promoting air quality improvement.
Eligible applicants are individuals, sole proprietors, and corporations who have continuously registered their address in Namwon City for at least 90 days as of the application date.
