DongSung Pharmaceutical announced on the 28th that its dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis treatment, 'Bigazol Liquid,' is experiencing a sold-out craze.
DongSung Pharmaceutical's 'Bigazol Liquid' is an antifungal medicinal shampoo used for dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, and tinea versicolor. It is applied to the affected areas (trunk, face, scalp, etc.), left on for 3 to 5 minutes, and then rinsed off. Last year, its sales growth rate was 28%.
In an era with 10 million hair loss patients in Korea, seborrheic dermatitis is considered a major cause of dandruff and hair loss acceleration, leading to a surge in sales through word of mouth among consumers.
Dandruff fungi cause scalp itching, wounds, inflammation, and pimples, and if left untreated, can lead to hair loss, making proactive management essential. As consumer interest in these symptoms has increased, pharmacies have experienced stock shortages.
A DongSung Pharmaceutical representative said, “Seborrheic dermatitis, one of the main causes of dandruff, usually occurs more frequently in the warm summer months, so many customers seek the product then. However, we were surprised that Bigazol Liquid has recently received so much attention and love even in winter. We will do our best to restock by early March so that consumers who are serious about hair loss and scalp care can access the product as soon as possible.”
Meanwhile, DongSung Pharmaceutical plans to leverage this sold-out craze as an opportunity to establish Bigazol Liquid as the leading product in the dandruff shampoo market through an advertising campaign featuring actor Namgoong Min.
