The Vatican Issues Another Brief Update on the Pope's Condition
The Vatican announced on the 27th (local time) that Pope Francis, who has been hospitalized for 14 days due to pneumonia, is spending a peaceful night and is currently resting.
On the morning of the same day, the Vatican briefly conveyed the Pope's current condition through a press release.
In a press release the previous evening, the Vatican stated that there had been "additional and slight improvements" in the Pope's health and that "the renal failure symptoms, which had raised concerns about complications, have also been resolved." The Vatican informs the faithful about the Pope's health status twice daily, in the morning and evening, through official statements.
Previously, since the 22nd, the Vatican had described the Pope's condition as "serious," but this expression was omitted in the evening release. However, they expressed a cautious stance, saying, "The Pope's prognosis still needs to be carefully monitored."
The 88-year-old Pope had been suffering from bronchitis since the beginning of this month and was admitted to Rome's Gemelli Hospital on the 13th. Pneumonia was confirmed in both lungs, and he experienced breathing difficulties at one point. The Pope is currently undergoing the longest hospitalization during his 12-year papacy.
