Establishing a Disaster Safety Communication Network System
for Enhanced Cooperation Between Coast Guard and Fire Departments
The West Sea Regional Coast Guard Headquarters (Chief Lee Myungjun) announced on the 27th that it will improve the mutual communication operation system using the disaster safety communication network for more efficient on-site response between the Coast Guard and fire department personnel.
The West Sea Coast Guard Headquarters and the Jeonnam and Jeonbuk Fire Departments have been conducting joint responses in cases such as transporting emergency patients from island regions and ship fire incidents. However, there have been difficulties in smooth information exchange, such as multi-party calls and public communication, as mobile phones have been the main means of contact.
To address this, the West Sea Coast Guard Headquarters plans to establish a mutual communication operation system using the disaster safety communication network, improving ▲deployment information of on-site response personnel ▲communication procedures between the situation room and on-site personnel ▲methods for sharing important information, and will conduct regular communication training.
The disaster safety communication network is a communication network currently utilized by agencies such as the Coast Guard, fire department, and police in accordance with the Framework Act on Disaster and Safety Management.
Chief Lee Myungjun stated, "There have been difficulties in communicating with fire department personnel and collecting on-site information, but with this improvement, a swift and accurate response is expected," adding, "We will continue to cooperate with related agencies to do our best to ensure the safety of the sea for the public."
