Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun has become the richest person in China.
On the 27th, according to local media including Jiemian News in China, Xiaomi Group's stock price rose more than 4% that day, setting a new record. Jiemian News reported, "On the 26th, Xiaomi's market capitalization surpassed 1.4 trillion Hong Kong dollars (approximately 259.588 trillion KRW)," adding, "surpassing Zhong Shanshan, the founder of bottled water company Nongfu Spring, to become the richest person in China."
The rise in Xiaomi's stock price over the past year has been remarkable. On the 26th, Xiaomi closed at 56.3 HKD, up 5.83% from the previous day in the Hong Kong stock market. It has risen 65.59% over about two months this year until the previous day and surged 318% over the past year.
According to Sina Finance, Lei Jun's total wealth is estimated at 440 billion yuan (approximately 87.2256 trillion KRW). Lei Jun holds about 24.2% of Xiaomi's shares. From stocks alone, he has earned 341.2 billion yuan (approximately 67.6202 trillion KRW). Lei Jun also made huge profits by investing in Kingsoft Group. Thanks to the three listed platforms?Kingsoft Office, Kingsoft Software, and Kingsoft Cloud?Lei Jun gained assets worth about 44.1 billion yuan (approximately 8.7406 trillion KRW).
Lei Jun also invested through Shunwei Capital in IT companies such as ByteDance (the parent company of TikTok) and robotics company Yushu Technology, earning 50 billion yuan (approximately 9.909 trillion KRW), Jiemian News reported.
Zhong Shanshan's assets are estimated at about 375.7 billion yuan (approximately 74.4599 trillion KRW). He holds 84.4% of Nongfu Spring's shares, with a market value of about 344 billion yuan (approximately 68.1842 trillion KRW). He also owns 74.23% of the pharmaceutical company Beijing Wantai Biological Pharmacy Enterprise, which has a market value of 65.1 billion yuan (approximately 12.9034 trillion KRW).
Meanwhile, according to Forbes' "2024 Mainland China Rich List" released last November, Zhong Shanshan ranked first for the fourth consecutive year with a net worth of 50.8 billion USD (approximately 73.2688 trillion KRW). Tencent Holdings Chairman Ma Huateng ranked second with 46.8 billion USD (approximately 67.4996 trillion KRW). ByteDance founder Zhang Yiming ranked third with 45.6 billion USD (approximately 65.7688 trillion KRW). Following them, Pinduoduo founder Huang Zheng's wealth reached 43.9 billion USD (approximately 63.3169 trillion KRW), ranking fourth, and CATL Chairman Zeng Yuqun owned 37.1 billion USD (approximately 53.5019 trillion KRW), ranking fifth.
