Busan Superintendent Re-election Candidate Jeong Seung-yoon's First Pledge: 'Improving Literacy Diagnostic Assessment, Creating Safe Schools' Jeong Seung-yoon, a preliminary candidate for Busan Superintendent of Education, is announcing his first pledge.

The ‘Promotion of Korean and English literacy diagnostic assessments’ consists of ▲completing basic literacy in Korean, English from kindergarten through third grade of elementary school ▲introducing the AI customized diagnosis-prescription-monitoring system ‘MY EDU MAP’ ▲strengthening support for the vulnerable groups’ ‘Learning-type Neulbom’ program.

Through this first pledge, Candidate Jeong plans to prepare for changes in the educational environment in the full-fledged AI era and nurture talents who will lead the new era.

First, to develop the thinking strength and questioning strength required in the AI era, he plans to promote the improvement of basic literacy in Korean and English from kindergarten through third grade of elementary school.

In the case of Korean literacy, literacy will be assessed and diagnosed upon entering elementary school, and customized prescription and monitoring will be implemented. To this end, one-on-one customized education using AI technology will be introduced, and a monitoring system (tentatively named MY EDU MAP) will be developed to enable diagnosis, prescription, and education tailored to each student’s learning ability.

Additionally, support for the learning-type Neulbom program targeting vulnerable groups will be strengthened to close the academic gap while completing seamless public education. However, this will be implemented gradually depending on the situation at schools.

‘Creating safe schools’ consists of ▲expanding the placement of at least two ‘School Learning Space Guardians’ (with terminology selected through a public contest) ▲establishing a joint safety system with related organizations ▲full implementation of the ‘Safe Notifier’ system that alerts elementary students’ arrival and departure ▲mandatory placement of dedicated school violence counselors and psychological therapists ▲promotion of agreements with advanced medical institutions and health checkups for teachers and students.

Candidate Jeong emphasized, “In an era where AI dominates information and knowledge, the survival skills required for humans are ‘thinking power’ and ‘integrative (統攝的) thinking ability.’ I will provide education that cultivates ‘thinking strength’ and ‘questioning strength,’ focusing on problem-solving skills rather than rote memorization.”

He added, “I promise to create schools where precious children can be trusted and entrusted so that incidents like the ‘Kim Ha-neul case’ never happen again, and safe schools where parents can feel at ease.”
